Detailed River & Facility Information at our Cambridge Location

Charles River Canoe & Kayak’s Cambridge location in Kendall Square is the perfect location for your outing! We’re just two blocks from the Kendall T station, and a two-minute paddle from the best skyline view in Boston.

Like all our locations, we offer group discounts during non-peak hours to groups renting eight boats or more. If you’re renting fewer than eight boats, just come down — it’s rare that we run out of boats. During our peak hours, reservations require pre-payment of the first hour of rental and an additional reservation fee.

What to Expect on the Water

Our location in Kendall Square is paddle strokes away from the lower Charles River Basin, where you’ll see the Esplanade, Hancock and Prudential Buildings, Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge, Museum of Science, M.I.T., B.U., and more. The river is wide and open, and populated by many sailboats, duck boats, and powerboats.

Where to Stop While Paddling

There are a number of locations where paddlers on this section of river can stop to eat, rest, or walk. The Esplanade offers a number of potential stopping points. There is a public bathroom at the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade.

Paddlers can take a break at the Cambridgeside Galleria by paddling 100 yards up Lechmere Canal. Paddlers can step out onto a granite shelf, and you’ll be right at the Food Court when you enter the mall.

After passing the Museum of Science, paddlers can disembark at North Point Park or Nashua Street Park. North Point Park offers a playground, manicured sidewalks, and flower beds, though accessing the high dock is difficult. Nashua Street Park is a good place to stretch your legs, and access is easier.

One-Way Trips to Allston/Brighton

Paddlers can enjoy one-way trips to or from our Allston/Brighton location on Soldier’s Field Road, a five-mile trip featuring the best skyline view in Boston. Groups of eight boats or more who plan to paddle one-way must notify us when arranging your reservation.
