Fishing from a kayak allows access to shallower waters than a bigger boat and efficiently and quietly get to where the fish are. It makes sense that kayak fishing is such a rapidly growing sport and we’re all about it! We love Kayaking and we love the Charles River, it’s so exciting to see all those things come together.
Here are some resources that can get your started:
- Next Saturday, May 20th, we’re hosting a Kayak Fishing Demo Day where you can learn more about the sport, try out some boats and meet the pros. Hope you can join us! Ryan Dubay (right) is going to be talking about night fishing for stripers using eels as bait.
- We sell Kayaks dedicated to fishing, they are stable enough to stand in, come with rod holders, and some even have pedal drives so you can maneuver the boat while keeping your hands free to hold a rod.
- The Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA) has a free Charles River Fishing Guide available for download. Also, did you know the Mass Dept. of Fish and Wildlife stocks the Charles River with Rainbow Trout?! Read more about it on CRWA’s blog and see every MA waterway that has been stocked.

Whether you’re fishing in the Charles or Mystic Rivers, or paddling out into the harbor and salt water fishing, we’d love to hear about it. Where’s your favorite local spot? what’s in your tackle box? any advice for budding Boston area anglers?
