Kayak Eco-Tours from Nahanton Park

Charles River Canoe & Kayak’s Eco-Tours at our Nahanton Park rental location in Newton are a great way to view and learn about the wildlife that inhabits the Charles and its shoreline.

Join our trained naturalist guide as we launch our double kayaks and get a quick introduction to paddling strokes. We will slowly explore this extraordinarily wild section of the river, poking into coves and shallows to find common and not-so-common wildlife.

We frequently see great blue herons, turtles, several types of ducks, a variety of songbirds, and perhaps an egret, cormorant, muskrat, river otter, and beaver. Our guide will also net-dip for benthic (bottom-dwelling) organisms like dragonfly larvae and water-boatmen.

guided-tours-nahanton-park-eco-tourOur guide will show us the best viewing spots, identify the flora and fauna that we see, and describe how they fit into the intricate web of life on the Charles. We’ll even see remnants of the area’s glaciated past.

We offer our Eco-Tour in the evening, as this is one of the best times to view active wildlife. Bring binoculars, water, snacks, and extra clothing layers.

2.5-Hour Eco-Tour meets at our Nahanton Park location in Newton.
$39 for an Adult, including 2.5 hours of guiding and kayak rental.
