Introduction to Canoeing

If you’ve ever had trouble making a canoe go straight, you know that canoeing is not just second nature. With guidance, practice, and time, it can be elevated to an art. This course is designed for beginners and others desiring to improve their proficiency in flatwater canoeing.

We will cover basic techniques of paddling and precise maneuvering. Particular emphasis will also be placed on developing safety skills, including basic rescues, portaging, and cold-water preparedness. Our instructors will guide you through a steady progression of skill-building, designed to prepare you to explore ponds, rivers, and lakes on your own.
